The data is collected under the Vital Statistics Act 1952 (Stillbirth Act 1995) and Section 73 of the Civil Registration Act 2004.

Target Population:

All stillbirths in Ireland.

Sampling Frame:

Not applicable

Survey Size:

Approximately 300 stillbirths occur in Ireland each year.

Principal Variables Collected:

Date of stillbirth, Address of residence of mother, Cause of stillbirth, Gestational Age, Age of mother at maternity, Birthweight.

Principal External Users:

Eurostat, WHO, UN questionnaires.
